The superior rebuild of Age of Mythology (2002), fittingly called Age of Mythology: Retold will make its grand debut in September. For those who've pre-ordered the Premium Edition, an exclusive closed beta will commence on July 12th at 11 AM PT.
The Beta offer is open only until July 14th, 11:59 PM PT, during which testers can deeply explore the Tutorial, gain extensive knowledge of three Pantheons (Greek, Norse, and Egyptian), and embark on the primary five tasks of the Fall of the Trident campaign. The Skirmish and Multiplayer features are also part of the experience, with the last supporting a maximum of eight participants.
The main intent of the closed beta is to refine established systems, identify and troubleshoot errors, and solicit input on ongoing stability - this should not be taken as an indication of the final game balance. The developers anticipate some issues with the beta version, such as incomplete language support and possible problems with cross-play between the Microsoft Store and Steam users. However, World’s Edge reassures that in-game invitations should be operational, even if they are not available outside the game interface.
The official launch of Age of Mythology: Retold for Xbox Series X/S and PC is scheduled for September 4th. Beyond the private beta, the developers plan to run a limited-time stress test on Steam to examine the server capacity fully. No pre-orders will be necessary for this particular test run.
