The latest transformation in Google Meet aims to enhance the user experience during calls. Initially unveiled the prior year as a distinctive element for enterprise accounts, it is now being extended to all users. This update presents a redesigned call-screen interface featuring a pill-shaped search bar at the top and suggestions for contacts. This change coincides with the rollout of a new AI function within Meet that generates notes automatically at the end of each meeting.
This updated call interface is making its way to Android users. In addition to the pill-shaped search bar, larger buttons for scheduling and creating meetings have been optimized. A new grid display offers call suggestions based on factors such as starred contacts and recent emails, enhancing the connectivity experience for users. Furthermore, a new shortcut on the home screen allows for quick meeting initiation by entering a specific code, simplifying access for participants.
The modifications are part of the Google Meet 266 update, which is currently available for download. While representatives were able to confirm the interface changes on the Android version, the same updates have not yet appeared on iOS devices. In recent months, Google has introduced a range of features aimed at improving its virtual meeting platform.
Among these enhancements is a special capability unique to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, allowing simultaneous use of both inner and outer cameras during video calls. Another noteworthy addition is the ‘Take notes for me’ feature, specifically for Google Workspace users subscribed to certain premium services. This feature facilitates AI-generated meeting notes and can even produce full transcriptions, provided the setting is manually activated.
