Square Enix's Chief Executive Expressed Dissatisfaction over Final Fantasy XVI Sales

Executive Takashi Kiryu, expressed his dissatisfaction with the sales of the latest instalment, Final Fantasy XVI. While the beloved franchise's sixteenth episode has gained substantial global attention, its financial returns remain underwhelming, raising concerns for the renowned Japanese gaming giant.
Despite the fact that the sales of the Final Fantasy 16 in the first week amounted to more than 3 million copies, this is still small compared to the previous game in the series. Then, in just a few hours, more than 5 million copies were sold.
Takashi Kiryu iterated that he remains optimistic concerning the future of the Final Fantasy franchise. He believes the demand for the franchise remains strong and is hopeful that sales of Final Fantasy XVI will improve. Matsuda mentioned that the company is exploring innovative approaches to rejuvenate the franchise.
